There are many more complete wine and food calendars on the web but our goal is to post those events that appear to over-deliver for the ticket price. The key factors that affect our decisions (having spent over 20 years attending such events) include attending principals, the quality of the food and wine, the location and the chance to learn something new.
August 28, 2K10 – Welcome back to Gismondi on Wine. Where has the summer gone? Its back school time for many parents so what you really need is a great glass of wine and preferably at a low price. You can peruse hundreds of new reviews and thousands of dollars’ worth of wine using our sophisticated search engine and likely find just what you are looking for. As we prepare for the small season we will turn our attention to slightly heavier style reds and whites in anticipation of cooler and dare we say damper weather. The 10th Wine Access Canadian Wine Awards were a great success in Penticton and we will roll out more information about the results later this fall.
Still in the Okanagan: If you have a chance to attend any dinner or food-and-wine event that Joy Road Catering is involved in, do not hesitate. That said, most premium wine producers are still loath to cut prices, at least publicly, in the same manner that clothing retailers might mark down their latest designer fashions to clear the shelves. Theoretically, there is a firewall between the LCLB and the province’s largest liquor retailer, the BC Liquor Distribution Branch (BCLDB), which regulates the distribution and importation of beverage alcohol in government liquor stores. They found a Geisenheim-trained winemaker named Mark Rattray, the owner of a winery near Christchurch called Floating Mountain. He agreed to design their winery and to make the 2006 vintage, especially since the vintage in the northern hemisphere occurs in his off-season. full article...
