Goodnight, Jurgen

Jurgen Gothe (1944-2015)

After a long battle with cancer our friend Jurgen Gothe died last week.

He was the original BC wine guy, and his absence leaves a gap that will never be filled. He leaves behind a long trail of work in wine, food and music, first sharing our media space as a copy writer with CHQM/CHQM-FM Vancouver in the 1970s-1980s before hosting DiscDrive for CBC Radio Two, his golden voice guiding many decisions regarding all the good things in life - wine, food, music and cats. More than that he was a friend and a colleague and one of the leading and trusted writers/critics in Vancouver. He left hundreds of Uncorked wine columns in the Georgia Straight archives for all to enjoy, but in the end he left too soon. Our thoughts are with his wife Kate and the family. Cheers, and goodnight Jurgen.
