Anthony Gismondi on Wine

I have returned from a whirlwind tour of California tasting 400 plus wines last week and Treve is back from the hallowed vineyards of Chablis.

New Zealand invades Vancouver this week leading with its best varietal that no one ever talks about: chardonnay. We will also catch up with winemaker David Guimaraens who will be in the city to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Fonseca Port. More to come on all of that in the days to come. Finally we have reluctantly decided to implement the new BC retail liquor pricing model. Going forward our posted prices will reflect the retail price before the addition of 10% PST and 5% GST. We feel creepy posting prices that appear attractive until you add on the 15 percent at the till. We have heard the argument that all retail pricing is sans tax but liquor never was for decades and this change has more to do with trying to make the most expensive prices in North America look a little less expensive. You can follow our top wine finds and travels on Instagram at GismondiOnWine where the scores are about the wines, not the reviewers.
