Antinori Tignanello 2009

Tuscany, ItalyThe colour is typically deep the nose fragrant and suggestive of red fruits with an enticing harmonious mix of liquorice floral notes and spice. The palate is fresh and packed with cherries, vanilla and chocolate. If anything the 09 is restrained and more linear in style with excellent finesse suggesting it will age well for decades. In 2009 Tignanello is a mix of 80% sangiovese, 15% cabernet sauvignon and 5% cabernet franc from a terrific vintage. The aging takes place in both French and Hungarian oak barrels and lasts for about 16 to 18 months. Tignanello is produced exclusively from a 57 hectare site about 375 metres above sea level in the heart of Chianti Classico. The wine has been produced continuously since 1970 with the exception of the 1972, 1973, 1974, 1976, 1984, 1992, and 2002 labels.Tasted: 06 December 2012Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
