Kooyong Single Vineyard Selection Ferrous Pinot Noir 2012

Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, AustraliaAs the name suggests, there is a lot of ironstone in this vineyard. If you don't believe vines / wines can transmit minerality, I urge you to taste this wine. Wild yeast fermented in barrel and whole bunch press yields a very earthy, textured wine. Very savory/serious nose of iron, blood, fine black cherry. The firm, well knit palate carries worn iron, iodine, black cherry, subtle dark floral notes, blood orange, earth and gentle stony spice. Needs time to fully express itself, drink now with duck or hold for 5+ years. Tasted: 09 February 2015Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
