Trigone No13 by Le Soula 2013

Roussillon, Sud de France, FranceA beguiling wine from the Roussillon. Rich but not opulent floral but not cloying. Look for yellow fruits, honeysuckle and tropical under tones but with a citrus/mineral core. A full figured spicy white with ageing potential. Try it with halibut. The rest of the story revolves around a complex mix of village fruit from the Pays des Côtes Catalanes Fenouillèdes region grown on decomposed granite that sits between 400 and 550 m above sea level. The blend is a 75/15/5/5 of macabeu, vermentino, sauvignon, grenache blanc and grenache gris, malvoisie du Roussillon, chardonnay, marsanne and roussanne all from 25 to 30 year old vineyards. It is also a mix of vintages: 2013 (45%) 2012 (30%) 2011(24%) and 2009 (1%) - 65 percent in tank and 30 percent in old 500-liter demi-muids and finally 5 percent in foudre.Tasted: 10 February 2015Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
