Haywire Switchback Vineyard Wild Ferment 2012

Summerland, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe fact that the grape (pinot gris) isn't mentioned on the front label, but the vineyard (highly acclaimed Switchback) is, illustrates the winery's progression towards site and soil vs. grape. Here, five distinct plots were identified in the vineyard and farmed individually, fermented with wild yeast in egg-shaped concrete tanks with no enzymes and minimal winemaking intervention. Intense and herbal-doused aromas of honeysuckle and fragrant freesia blossoms. Full bodied, the palate is shining with earthy wild herbs, lime peel, white peach, brown butter and acacia. Textured and complex, lingering on the palate and in memory of new Okanagan.Tasted: 18 March 2015Tasted by: Prices:
