Quinta do Crasto Douro Vinho Tinto 2013

Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalAlways a consistent little stunner, and 2013 is no different. Twenty+ year old tinta roriz, tinta barroca, touriga franca and touriga naçional is aged in stainless steel before a splash of old vine reserva from oak barrels is added to the blend. Pure black plum, black cherry and youthful violets carry through to the structured, peppery and precise palate. Finely textured tannins are slightly grippy, carrying the stony cassis fruit to a lingering bitter black cherry and candied violets finish. Young, will refine further with a couple of years bottle age. Pour now with lamb.Tasted: 25 March 2015Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
