Almaviva 2010

Puente Alto, Valle del Maipo, ChileCoulure in 2010 reduce the crop, never a bad thing in Chile or a late ripening year all of which helped the earthquake year turn out to be more than solid. The blend is 61% cabernet sauvignon, 29% carmenère, 9% cabernet franc and 1% petit verdot and it all spends about 17 months French oak. Almaviva doesn’t disappoint bringing elegance and charm to the mix and in 2010 it appears to up the mocha/coffee flavours to better balance off the licorice, black fruit and mint. Less is more when you compare Almaviva to its vineyard mate Dom Melchor. Super value.
