Gunderloch Fritz's Riesling 2013

Rheinhessen, GermanyThough Fritz's, named for principal Fritz Hasselbach, is a catchy label and name, don't be fooled. The grapes here come from the same area as their premium wines, grown in a special part of the Rheinhessen called the Roter Hang, or Red Hill. These slate soils are red in colour, and the iron oxide deposits impart a lot of minerality to the wines. Tangerine, pear, Asian pear, tangerine flows, housed by a beauty lime leaf tension around the edges. There’s a noticeable bump of sweetness here on the juicy, off-dry, waxy palate, well balanced by the zip of acidity.Tasted: 06 July 2017Tasted by: Prices:
