Burlotto Acclivi Barolo 2009

Barolo, Cuneo, Piedmont, ItalyGiovani Battista Burlotto was an early Barolo pioneer, establishing his estate in the late 1800s and becoming the first to both put wines in bottle (rather than cask) and label with the name of his estate, as was the French fashion. Acclivi is made from a blend of several crus in the village of Verduno. Red flowers, crushed stones, autumnal truffles, crimson berries and rock roses on this classically savoury, lifted barolo. Worked leather and tobacco are rimmed with medicinal cherry, painted with iodine and salts, and structured with firm, lengthy tannins to a drying finish. A heft on the palate that welcomes decanting and pairing with boar now or a few more years in the cellar.Tasted: 11 January 2017Tasted by: Prices:
