Fort Berens White Gold 2013

Lillooet, British Columbia, CanadaThis reserve wine is the best of Fort Berens' estate grown chardonnay and receives special treatment, with fermentation and aging in French oak barrels. A buttery apple and pear nose, with whiffs of pineapple carry through to the creamy palate, where it is joined by white grapefruit, fine clove spicing and smooth, toasty wood. Lingering pineapple, vanilla and baking spice on the finish are amplified by some heat. This is s match for braised chicken thighs with white wine and leeks, or caramelized scallops. I wish they would ditch the plastic corks and show that they're really serious.Tasted: 12 July 2015Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
