Spierhead Pinot Noir Cuvée 2014

East Kelowna Slopes, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaSpierhead released four different pinot noirs in 2014, showing a strong commitment to the heartbreak grape. The Cuvée is a blend of the best barrels from the harvest, whole berry fermented and aged ten months in French oak. Ripe and generous, though still tightly wound in youth. An herbal boysenberry/cherry nose (consist with the other offerings) carries through to a cushioned, black cherry jam, rose petal, beef jus and anise palate. Acidity is brisk with tannins a touch on grippy side for the moment. It’s young and should relax and grow in the bottle over the next two to three years. The flagship is aged in 100% French oak and is 46/21/17/8/8/ mix of Dijon 115, Dijon 777, Dijon 828, Dijon 667 and Pommard.Tasted: 15 December 2015Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Treve RingPrices:
