Sonoma County, California, United StatesRe-tasted in the market and the 2014 remains solid but ready to drink. The RS regular chardonnay (Sonoma) is 60 percent barrel fermented and aged in oak for six months. Then the remainder is cold fermented in stainless steel. The style is ripe and buttery but with some restraint, including a gentle touch of lees and toasted oak for complexity. The fruit is a mix of peaches and pears flecked with red apple and pineapple, and enough underlying acidity to keep it juicy. A fresher style that could be dryer but otherwise a very pleasant sipping style chardonnay.
