Donnafugata Ben Ryé Passito di Pantelleria 2011

Sicily, ItalyA rare dessert wine made with sun-dried zibbibo grapes (akin to muscat of Alessandria) from the tiny volcanic island of Pantelleria, south west of Sicily. Twelve different sites, soils and altitudes made up this complexed blend. This elegant & honeyed nectar is dense with perfumed bergamot, golden raisins, heady quince, ripe nectarine and dried apricots. A river of tangerine blossom and potent orange oils run throughout the syrupy palate - one full bodied and lush, but with strikingly good acid to balance. Exceptional length, exceptional sweetness, and both best enjoyed with a cheese plate or Italian olive oil cake.Tasted: 13 February 2016Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
