Concha y Toro Marques de Casa Concha Cabernet Sauvignon 2014
Puente Alto, Valle del Maipo, Region del Valle Central, ChileOne of the better Marques de Casa Concha cabernets we have tasted lately. The 2014 blend is 92/6/1/1 cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot and syrah, all grown in the cool, high Maipo at Puente Alto 650 metres above sea level and Pirque at 570 metres on nutrient-poor, alluvial soils loaded with gravel. The vines were planted from 1986-2005. The wine spends 6 months in a mix of small French oak barrels and 5,000-liter foudres. The result is delicious. The nose is rich and inviting with a dollop of bay leaf over smoky, black fruits. The mid-palate is fresh with more savoury, cassis, meaty, coffee black fruit flavours all in balance.
