Signorello Padrone 2012

Napa Valley, California, United StatesIs this best Padrone ever? We think so aided and abetted by a very fine 2012 vintage from ideal bud-break, warm days, and cool and foggy nights and perfect ripeness. Padrone comes off the best blocks, all on rocky hillsides and it spends 22 months in 100 percent new French oak barrels. The 2012 is a 91/9 mix of cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc and its is the best of the best. It seems crazy to suggest its understated when the fruit and power is so bold but this wine has a finesse you don’t often see in Napa. Black fruit, chocolate, tobacco permeate this opulent red that persists forever on the palate. Cellar for a decade and drink for another. Excellent quality here but it should be for the price.Tasted: 18 April 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
