Castello di Gabbiano Chianti Classico Riserva 2013

Tuscany, ItalyThe fruit comes off the oldest vineyards and there is five percent merlot added to the traditional sangiovese. The fermented wine spends twelve months in French oak casks from 15hl to 30hl, as well as in small 225 litre barrels (20 percent new). The wine also spends a year in bottle before release. There is better intensity here when compared to the Chianti Classico, but the style is light with spicy red fruits and chocolate flavours with more underbrush. Light, soft and savoury with a typically dry finish.Tasted: 28 December 2017Tasted by: Prices:
