Guado al Tasso Bolgheri Superiore 2003

Tuscany, ItalyThe remarkably hot summer in Europe has produced a California-style Guado al Tasso with richness, power and alcohol that is fading 13 years down the road. The blend is 60/30/10 cabernet sauvignon, merlot, syrah. Blackberries and cassis still dominate the nose and palate with a hint of smoke and meat (syrah) in the background. Approaching full maturity now and ready to drink with slow cooked meats or mature cheeses. Guado al Tasso takes its name from notoriously shy badgers crossing the fords of the streams which run through the property. The 1000-hectare estate boasts 300 hectares of vineyards planted to rocky, lightly calcareous soils over rolling hillsides in the heart of the Bolgheri amphitheater. The flagship blend was first released in 1990. Tasted in a vertical presentation in Vancouver.Tasted: 26 May 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
