Guado al Tasso Bolgheri Superiore 2004

Tuscany, ItalyHeavy rains in the autumn of 2003 replenished the countryside baked by a super hot summer. A cool winter and cool spring delayed flowering, even then it was cool and wet year. Selection at harvest was key and small crop of 50/40/10 cabernet sauvignon, merlot and syrah that produced a solid, balanced wine now fully ready to drink. The plate is a fruity mix of red and black fruits with a hint of mocha and toasted wood. Serve now with a mushrooms or pork. Guado al Tasso takes its name from notoriously shy badgers crossing the fords of the streams which run through the property. The 1000-hectare estate boasts 300 hectares of vineyards planted to rocky, lightly calcareous soils over rolling hillsides in the heart of the Bolgheri amphitheater. The flagship blend was first released in 1990. Tasted in a vertical presentation in Vancouver.Tasted: 26 May 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
