Guado al Tasso Bolgheri Superiore 2005

Tuscany, ItalyThe grapes a 50/45/5 cabernet sauvignon, merlot and syrah were picked ripe under perfect conditions. Back then the wine was placed in new 225 litre barriques made with Allier and Tronçais oak. In all the wine spent 30 months in oak. Mow ready to drink it is actually showing a bit of age. Still fragrant with those savoury Bolgheri scents mixed red fruits and licorice. Dried herbs and rosemary with just a touch od smoked meat mark the finish. Guado al Tasso takes its name from notoriously shy badgers crossing the fords of the streams which run through the property. The 1000-hectare estate boasts 300 hectares of vineyards planted to rocky, lightly calcareous soils over rolling hillsides in the heart of the Bolgheri amphitheater. The flagship blend was first released in 1990. Tasted in a vertical presentation in Vancouver.Tasted: 26 May 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
