Montresor Amarone della Valpolicella 2012

Veneto, ItalyA solid Amarone mixes a rich blend is 75/25 corvina/rondinella from five traditional villages. The fruit is dried out until February followed by a 120 day ferment in stainless steel before it spends three years in a mix of Slavonian oak casks and French small barrels. Expect an intense cherry kirsch nose with slightly pruny, almond cherry flavours and a touch of sweaty leather. Quite ripe almost sweet in the aftertaste this will keep another decade or two. Serve with grilled sausages or an old piece of mature cheese.Tasted: 16 May 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
