Ravenswood Single Vineyard Teldeschi Zinfandel 2013

Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County, California, United StatesThey say if zinfandel was only grown in one place it would be Dry Creek Valley where its tell-tale blue fruits and warm spices predominate. The Teldeschi Vineyard planted between 1913 and 1919 brings a century of life to this wine. The blend is 80 percent zinfandel with a 12/8 split of carignan and petite sirah. The nose is fragrant awash in black and blue fruit aromas with floral, peppery notes throughout. There is very good freshness here given the warm vintage with full rich, graceful black raspberry fruit flavours, dusky spicing and a savoury finish. There is blance and restraint here at least as much as you can expect at 15.1 percent alcohol. Drink this now with grilled ribs or lamb or wait or decade for it to fully develop in the bottle.
