Clos du Soleil Grower's Series Makepeace Cabernet Merlot 2013

Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFrom the annual, all-Similkameen, small-lot Grower's Series Collection that features one white and one red pick by winemaker Michael Clark, the 2013 red is an 82/18 blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot, sourced from the Chopaka Ridge Vineyard of Cawston. The cabernet and merlot were vinified separately, and then blended together to spend 16 months in 100% French oak barrels. Look for that tell-tale fragrant savoury desert nose flecked with cedar, red and black fruits. On the palate the wine is juicy with ripe earthy, savoury berries, reminiscent of Bolgheri. Tannins are round and polished, the flavours a mix of grilled toast, mocha, black raspberry fruit. Simple but very well made and fun to drink now but should age well through 2018.Tasted: 08 July 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
