Signorello Chardonnay Vieilles Vignes 2013

Napa Valley, California, United StatesEarly, even and excellent is how winemaker/owner Ray Signorello describes the 2013 that jumps form the glass with notes of honeysuckle, orange blossom and vanilla. The style is rich and opulent California with more tropical fruit flavours and a thin bead of resin through the finish. A little more old-style perhaps than it needs be, but would be perfect with rich seafood dishes like lobster and crab. All native yeast ferment with fruit off 36-year-old vines. Only 1.8 tons per acre all picked September 22. The wine is whole cluster pressed and fermented in French oak barrels. Just under 60 percent goes through malolactic fermentation. The wine spends 16 months on the lees in 19 percent new French oak barrels.Tasted: 09 August 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
