Robert Mondavi Maestro 2013

Napa Valley, California, United States2016 marked the 50th anniversary of Robert Mondavi Winery, and amongst the many celebrations, the winery released Maestro, a merlot-led meritage sourced from To Kalon (where Mondavi initially started) and Wappo Hills. After 59 percent merlot, the wine is blended with cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, petit verdot and malbec to create a full-bodied red to celebrate with now. That said, with an extended maceration and two years in 75 percent new French oak, this was obviously constructed to age. Savoury edged, bitter black cherry, bitter chocolate, blackberry and thorns are framed up with ample lengthy, hard tannins and seasoned with toasted nutmeg. Would be suitable now with a decant and grilled red meats, but will reward with your cellaring.Tasted: 12 January 2017Tasted by: Prices:
