Chateau du Vieux Puit 2010

Bordeaux, FranceBordeaux prices are so high it is impossible to comprehend what if any value the prized classified growths offer the everyday wine drinkers. The less than stellar 2013 vintage release is yet another example of prices gone mad. But there are other wines to be had such as this little red blend from the less than famous Blaye appellation. It hails from the highly lauded 2010 vintage and at six years old it is showing its stuff at a bargain price – at least for Bordeaux. Fully mature now it’s a delicious mix of red and black fruits with no over powering oak. Just bright fruit with a touch of licorice and dried herbs. Balanced and ready to drink and a good example of how the little wines can rise up in a great vintage.Tasted: 10 October 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
