Laughing Stock Vineyards Portfolio +06/10 2014

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaIt’s all come together in 2014 for Portfolio. Ripe, mouth-filling, savoury, long, dense and silky this is an amazing effort from the Enns, David and Cynthia.Portfolio has wonderful balance most years, a result of winemaker David Enns' love of blending. In this case, 100 barrels, from 12 different vineyard blocks and five grape varieties make up the palette of flavours. We love the aromatic aromas of licorice, dried herbs and red fruits. The tannins are dense but fine-grained adding to the considerable finesse and complexity of this wine. The blend is 49/28/20/2//1 merlot, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, malbec and petit verdot. Oak fermenters in addition to stainless steel tank ferments have made a significant contribution to the texture this year. Portfolio spends 19 months in French oak barrels and larger puncheons - another good idea.Tasted: 10 October 2016Tasted by: Prices:
