Poplar Grove The Legacy 2012

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThere is little doubt the 2012 vintage was kind to Okanagan growers in allowing for complete phenolic ripeness, a welcomed change after 2010 and 2011. Combine that with older vines, better viticulture, better winemaking and expectations are high. Legacy is never a blockbuster but more of a savoury, soft textured red blend that is well aged by the winery before release. The ’12 has an earthy, leafy, savoury, cassis scented nose. The attack is round and soft, the tannins chalky and equally accommodating. The flavours: savoury, earthy and red fruits, mimicking the blend led by 35 percent cabernet franc mixed with 23 malbec, 22 merlot and 20 cabernet sauvignon. It spends 21 months in French oak and then 24 months in cellar before it is released. A perfect match to rare grilled T-bone steaks.Tasted: 03 October 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
