Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaMight fortification be the answer to marechal foch's vexing foxiness problem? This certainly leads one to think that way, with just an edge of smokey fochiness on the nose adding an edge to this sweet, rich wine. The potent, thick palate carries smoked branch, bitter chocolate, baked blackberries, cracked pepper and cigar notes to a brusque finish. If you're serving brandied cherry or blackberry pie, here's a solid match.Tasted: 17 January 2017Tasted by: Prices:
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaTwelve months in oak barrels and a dash of neutral spirits has left a surprisingly, spicy, silky sweet port-style red made from a Quails’ Gate specialty – maréchal foch. The nose is cleaner than the last vintage, showing more fresh fruit aromas and spice. Soft, rich and sweet, there is a mix of blackberry, coffee/toffee/chocolate flavours and some finesse too. Blue cheese, nutty cakes and chocolate all work here.Tasted: 21 October 2016Tasted by: Prices:
