Quails' Gate Syrah The Boswell 2014

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaOne of the special anniversary releases from Quails' Gate, this is named in honour of the grandparents of the Steward stewards, and sourced from their estate Westbank vineyards, an anomaly for Okanagan syrah. Its northern latitude is evident in its graceful form and figure. Warm scrubby rosemary, highly perfumed violets, smoked meats and a haunting white pepper note throughout this complex, medium/full red. Tannins are structured, downy and smokey, carrying the fruit to a warm finish. Much potential for this style, and wine. This sees 18 months in French oak, and for a wine with this much finesse, I'd love to see more older wood in future vintages.Tasted: 24 October 2016Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
