Radikon Ribolla 2007

Friuli-Venezia Giulia, ItalyOne of the iconic wines of the natural wine world, this wine is typifies wabi-sabi. It has many "faults", but in that imperfection lies a beauty. Entirely additive free, this had three months on the skins, fermented wild, in 3000L botti, where it spent nearly 4 years before being bottled unfined and unfiltered, and then rested a further year. This orange wine pours a cloudy haze, with orange oil, elderflower, fennel, wild herbs, quince, dried apricot, meadow blossoms scenting a malty cereal base. Acidity is bracing and striving. Gripped with firm and fine tannins, this savoury wine is best enjoyed over a number of days, or at the least, after a decant and very light chill. Intriguing and memorable.Tasted: 20 December 2016Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
