Veuve Clicquot Vintage Brut 2008

Champagne, FranceTasted one year along, and this is as ripe, concentrated and doughy as remembered, with brioche dough, hazelnut paste, red apple butter, candied orange, dried apricot, and gingersnap. For all its weight, there is a raft of freshness that hums on the finish. 61 percent pinot noir, 34 percent chardonnay, 5 percent pinot meunier from Grand and Premier Cru sites, this spent six years on the lees and was disgorged March 2015. New to this 2008 Vintage: 5 percent of the wines were produced and aged in wooden casks. The 2008, the first vintage since 2004, featured new winemaker Dominique Demarville (ex-Mumm) and was the first vintage Veuve fermented and aged in wood since the 60s. It's also the first time VC has placed a disgorgement date on the label.Tasted: 09 December 2017Tasted by: Prices:
