Rodney Strong Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley 2014

Alexander Valley, Sonoma County, California, United StatesRodney Strong was a fan of Alexander Valley cabernet sauvignon as far back as 1971, when he planted Alexander’s Crown. Today they farm four different estate vineyards on the benches and hillsides on Alexander Valley terroir. Fine richness here, if a little less finesse than in 2013. The wine spends about 18 months in French oak barrels, 50 percent new. The nose is fragrant, showing dark plums, cassis, and spice with a hint of chocolate. The attack brings more warm, round, soft black cherry fruit flecked with espresso, blackberry, smoky vanilla and savoury, dried herb flavours. New world style but with freshness and style. For current drinking to mid-term drinking. Good value. Steaks anyone?Tasted: 27 January 2017Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
