Domaine Maby Nessun Dorma Lirac 2013
Lirac, Southern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceThis estate has been in the Maby family since the early 19th century, and is now run by descendant Richard Maby. Nessun Dorma, the estate's top red cuvee, is named for an aria from ‘Turandot’, made from their oldest parcels of syrah and grenache, and aged for 18 months in conncrete and new oak. Dusky violet, blackberry, anise is drawn across a textured palate, with herbal scrub, rock roses, dark espresso, cured meats and worn leather. Juicy on the mid palate, with raging, rustically grippy tannins caging the whole.
