Inniskillin Montague Vineyard Chardonnay 2014

Four Mile Creek, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, CanadaOut from underneath a heavy cloak of oak, a peak of bright, tight, crystalline lemon fruit pokes through, though sadly, the toasty wood quickly snuffs it out to dominate this Four Mile Creek chardonnay. Over-ripe pear and white peach are studded with cloves and lashed with vanilla. Acidity works its best to carry the heft and sweetness on the palate but the style is more old school than new. Some older oak or larger barrels could lift this to a higher place. As it is now, best paired with an equally rich and generous cream pasta dish.Tasted: 07 February 2017Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Treve RingPrices:
