Kooyong Single Vineyard Meres Pinot Noir 2015

Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, AustraliaPlanted in 1997, the Meres vineyard is north facing, with exposed vines producing low vigour and low yields. More clay and sand, and less ironstone in this vineyard always produces wines with fragrant, red-fruited aromatics leading. Quiet smoked stone and gentle clove streak through a core of strawberry and raspberry, with earthy, herbal spice, and dark cocoa whiffs on the finish. Long, linear and finely textured throughout. This was fermented in wood, 25 percent new, with a small portion whole bunch, and was bottled unfined and unfiltered. Lovely complexity now in youth, that will build and deepen with cellaring.Tasted: 09 February 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
