Quinta do Vale Meão Douro Red 2014

Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalThe flagship wine of the Quinta, and rightfully thought of as one of the classic Douro table wines. The 2014 Vale Meão is a blend of 55% Touriga Nacional, 35% Touriga Franca, 5% Tinta Barroca and 5% Tinta Roriz. After being crushed and cooled, the grapes were and foot trodden before vinification in stainless and maturation in oak barriques (65% new). Drinking beautifully now in youth, with a lovely refined elegance. Very complete, dense on the black-fruited, medicinal hued and sappy-tinged palate. Structured, with well integrated wood (less new in this vintage, which is a welcome move) and long tannins. Much depth and complexity in this elegant wine to last a decade easy.Tasted: 06 February 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
