Bachelder Johnson Chardonnay Oregon Single Vineyard 2013

Willamette Valley, Oregon, United StatesThomas Bachelder understands chardonnay and pinot noir in a way few other winemakers do, making terroir-driven wines from these grapes in Niagara, Oregon and Burgundy. The Johnson vineyard is on sedimentary soils in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, a site planted by Bachelder himself in 2000 during his time working at neighbouring Lemelson Vineyards. The 2013 struck with its reductive, flinty edge, flake salts and citrus, green apple, streaming along with verve and energy on a slick of lees. Textural and structured, with an alluring saline note, this will age beautifully, and drinking very well now. Impressive.Tasted: 25 May 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
