Chateau Martinolles Crémant de Limoux Brut 2013

Limoux, Languedoc, Sud de France, FranceThe Limoux wine region lies at the westernmost point of the Languedoc, just south of the medieval city of Carcassonne. The region is buffeted by cool and wet weather from the Atlantic Ocean and warm/hot dry conditions from the Mediterranean. Domaine de Martinolles, owned by the Vergnes family since 1926, was sold to Jean Claude Mas in 2011 as part of an estate sale. The vineyards lie on ancient chalky hillsides from 200 to 600 metres above sea level where the monks of St. Hilaire produced the world’s first sparkling in 1531. The chardonnay cuvée (there is no mauzac the traditional grape of the region) has a fresh, aromatic nose with floral, stony undertones. White fruits and more minerality marks the nose of this fresh, crisp sparkling wine.Tasted: 01 May 2017Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
