Stag's Hollow Albarino Shuttleworth Creek Vineyard 2016

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaAlbariño from the Okanagan Valley, you say? We say si, and why not? We've the warmth of Spanish summers, capable of the brisk acidity the grape benefits from, and able to achieve the long hang time that Albariño benefits from. Plus, we're young and experimental enough to try. Pear, melon, white peach, anise, and gentle peach fuzz spicing in this fluid and streamlined example. Partial barrel fermented (500L French puncheons) and no MLF has keep this bright, while six weeks battonage gives just a slip of cushion to the palate. In future, I'd like to see this go even deeper into the Okanagan terroir (wild yeast, more time on lees, less stainless) but for now, this is a crisp, clean and bright wine ideal for our spot prawns, fresh halibut and Asian scented scallops.Tasted: 26 May 2017Tasted by: Prices:
