Yalumba The Triangle Block Shiraz 2013

Eden Valley, South Australia, AustraliaSelect parcels of shiraz grapes from Yalumba’s Samuel’s Garden collection trace a direct line to Australia’s first vine plantings, now over 160 years ago. Select shiraz parcels of the Triangle Block are fermented with tiny amounts of viognier, while the remainder of the shiraz is fermented on its own, and all is aged in French and Hungarian hogsheads (15 % new oak) for 11 months. The result is a meaty, dark, brooding, floral affair with notes of briar and black fruits. The finish is youthful with sticky tannins and savoury licorice dried herbs notes. Still youthful and tight, even slightly reductive upon opening, if you do serve it now be sure to decant and consider serving it with something rich like fire-grilled lamb. It is vegan friendly.Tasted: 12 May 2017Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
