Black Hills Alibi 2016

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe 2016 Alibi is 75/25 sauvignon blanc/sémillon, the latter barrel fermented in puncheons. There's a sweet and sour element here, with a bitter melon, hops and citrus set off against ripe, creamy orchard pear and Asian pear. The finish returns to a pithy, woolly, citrus note and a flush of warmth. The wine is currently out of sorts but it should come around in bottle by the fall. It is best soothed now with oily fish or dark poultry meat. Still good value.Tasted: 26 June 2017Tasted by: Treve Ring & Anthony GismondiPrices:
