Terre del Principe Ambruco 2010

Campania, ItalyThe name Ambruco is a linguistic contamination of "vitis labrusca" = wild vine, and reflective of the centuries of ancient, wild vines that have grown in this area. This is thirty-year-old organic pallagrello nero from vineyards in Castel Campagnano and Vigna Monticelli, that spent one year in wood (30 percent new) before a further 18 months in the bottle. Dark, dusky black berry, dark cherry, dark and wild florals and an earthy, resinous herbaceous note woven along with balsamic and leather. Tannins are sinewy to the drying, peppery finish. This powerful wine is showing a little age, and suits pouring alongside wild boar or lamb leg.Tasted: 15 June 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
