Mt. Boucherie Meritage 2012

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaMust admit, I was surprised (and a little scared) to see the 2012 vintage of Meritage as a current release from Mt. Boucherie. This is a blend of Similkameen and Okanagan Valley fruit, a 74/26 cabernet sauvignon / cabernet franc blend that aged 30 months in French oak. Rich and full with dried blackberry, kirsch, porty plums, leather and ample clove and nutmeg spices. Tannins are strident-softened and this has an oxidative note that hovers over top to the drying, hot finish. Too much, and at this point, too late without an equally huge piece of roast beef or lamb.Tasted: 07 July 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices: BC 35.00 winery direct, private wine shops Producer: Mt.
