Mosel, GermanyThe Piesporter Goldtropfchen vineyard is rocky and steep, opening south and wide, amphitheatre-style, at an acute bend in the Moselle River. There is a hint of petrol and botrytis on the nose before the minerality, white peach, honey and gooseberry takes over. Lively, fresh and treading the sweet and sour line, it is both elegant, assertive and complex. A real treat.
