Tantalus Chardonnay 2015

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaA Tantalus their Next World chardonnay is cross between the New and Old. It’s darker than you might expect but the nose is fresh and lemony with a mix of apricot and melons and toast and vanilla. The fruit is off Block 6 a site with an eastern aspect along the northern side of the home vineyard. The fruit is a mix of 1985 Oppenheim vines and a 2007 part of Dijon clones. In a blazing warm year, you can see and feel a bit of the heat but there is enough texture and complexity to hold your interest. It’s all wild fermented and aged in French oak, including 30 percent new French oak puncheons and barriques. You can drink this now but we would suggest another year in bottle to really let it blossom.Tasted: 01 August 2017Tasted by: Prices:
