Blue Mountain Pinot Blanc 2016

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaElectricity is not a word you associate with pinot blanc but maybe after 31 years Matt Mavety has found the secret. There's help from what is becoming a great white wine vintage (2016) and two old German clones but more likely it is the winemaking or is that no winemaking. The wine is wild fermented and aged in stainless (55 percent) and older, neutral French oak (45 percent) before it spends five months on its lees prior to going to bottle. There is fine concentration but with admirable restraint. Citrus, pears and peaches all on the cool side mark the nose and palate washed with a stony minerality. It's the best BC pinot blanc I have tasted ever and at $18 it is a super bargain. Back up the truck.Tasted: 02 August 2017Tasted by: Prices:
