Laughing Stock Vineyards Syrah +17/09 2015

Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFrom The Perfect Hedge Vineyard, on Osoyoos' east bench, this sarah was fermented in three lots: the first cofermented with viognier in stainless; the second fermented in 500L open top French puncheons, and the last in The Ferminator, a large custom-built oak vessel that absorbed 80 percent carbonic maceration and 20 percent whole cluster. After fermentation, the wine spent 14 months in 35 percent new French oak. Dusky violet leaves, cassis, black peppery and cracked clove fill the smooth, streaming palate, one decorated with roasted coffee and tinged with smoke (a result of the 2015 forest fires throughout the Okanagan). This is easy to enjoy now, but with an edge that will draw in intermediate wine folk as well.Tasted: 21 August 2017Tasted by: Prices:
