Laughing Stock Vineyards Syrah +17/09 2015

Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaConsistency from year to year is the measure of any great wine, and the LS syrah has it in spades. Perfect Hedge Vineyard sits along the US border in east Osoyoos so far south that the LS syrah ripens two weeks ahead of the home vineyard in Naramata. It's fermented in three lots: the first is co-fermented with viognier in stainless; the second fermented in 500L open top French puncheons; and the third in ‘The Ferminator’, a large custom-built oak vessel that absorbed 80 percent carbonic maceration and 20 percent whole cluster fruit. Post fermentation, it spends 14 months in 35 percent new French oak. Dark, inviting florals mark the nose of an elegantly styled syrah, packed with blueberry, Bing cherry, white pepper, stony minerals and just a hint of smoky roasted meats. Youthful and robust, this will need a decade to come into its own but should be very refined by then.Tasted: 11 October 2017Tasted by: Prices:
